Fujitsu M8100 IBM-Compatible 3590 Tape Drive
The M8100, Fujitsu's 128-track half inch cartridge tape drive, is a new generation tape drive to meet the critical mission data environment needs for high speed, large capacity and full format compatibility with IBM® 3590™ Magstar™.
The M8100 transfer rate (13.5MB/s Native) is 4.5 MB/s faster than the IBM 3590 Magstar (9.0MB/s Native). In addition, the M8100 boasts a Mean-Time-Between-Failure (MTBF) rating of 100,000 hours, among the highest in the industry, and is covered by a two-year limited warranty.
Utilizing Fujitsu's state of the art design technology, the bezel and cartridge opening are the same form factor and location as previous Fujitsu half-inch cartridge tape drives.
Moreover, the new high density read/write magnetic tape head creates increased recording density and the highly reliable tracking control system achieves greater track density. The formatter and Ultra-SCSI host interface are integrated into the same 8-inch form factor drive cabinet. Therefore, tape drive systems currently using the Fujitsu half-inch cartridge tape drive series, can be easily upgraded with the new M8100 for increased capacity and performance with less integration investment.
With these new technologies and Fujitsu's reputation for high quality tape products, the M8100 is the perfect solution for mission critical data environments as well as a various range of applications for near-line transaction and back-up streaming modes.
